ARLENE L. CARLSON, age 101, of Worthington, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at the Crossroads Care Center, in Worthington. She was born July 13, 1906, in Oakland, NE, to John and Ellen (Tunberg) Norberg. The family moved to Lucas, SD in 1911, where her father farmed. Arlene married Carl D. Carlson on January 30, 1926, in Lucas, SD. After their marriage, the couple farmed in South Dakota until 1942 when they left the South Dakota drought country and made their way to Minnesota. They settled in the Fulda-Worthington area. Arlene became a resident of the Crossroads Care Center in May of 2002. She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church, in Worthington for sixty-four years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing. Arlene is survived by her two sons, Wesley Carlson, Stanton, CA; and Melvin (Arlene) Carlson, Truman; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl, in 1989; daughter, Ellen; and a son, Norman.
