May 28, 1921 – December 17, 2019
ARLENE MAE WIBBENS, age 98, of Worthington, died Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the Sanford Worthington Hospice Sunset Cottage. She was born May 28, 1921, in Worthington, to Irving "Pete" and Elizabeth (DeVries) Wasmund. At the age of three, she moved to Harold, SD with her family and returned to Minnesota at the age of nine. Arlene attended country schools at Harold, SD and the Rushmore MN areas. She was baptized at the Church of Christ.
Arlene married Claude Wibbens on May 29, 1936 in Worthington. After marriage, they made their home in Worthington. Arlene worked for Campbell Soup Company for forty three years, including thirteen years as a cook and lead person in the cafeteria. Arlene enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting and gardening.
Arlene is survived by her three sons, Donald Gene Wibbens of Lakeville; James Lyle (LaVonne) Wibbens of Rochester; and Richard Lee (Mary) Wibbens of Denver, Co.; grandchildren, Scott Wibbens of Chippew Falls, WI; David (Kim) Wibbens of Lakeville; and Nicole (Sean) Pedersen of Highlands Ranch, CO.; three great- grandchildren, Katelyn and Eric Wibbens of Lakeville; and Maxwell Pedersen of Highlands Ranch, CO; sisters in-law, Phyllis and Geneva Wasmund; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude in November of 2006; son, Robert Kenneth Wibbens; sister, Viola Meinders; and brothers, Floyd and LeRoy Wasmund.
Please join the family in celebrating fond memories of Arlene's life on Wednesday at 1 pm at the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, is assisting the family with arrangements.
