ARLYN "ARLIE" VINCIENT McCLURE, age 88, of Luverne, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. He was born July 27, 1928, in Adrian, to John and Anna (Aanenson) McClure. Arlie was baptized at Our Savior Lutheran Church on April 14, 1929; and was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on May 11, 1952. The family lived in Kenneth, where Arlie attended school. They then moved to the farm northeast of Luverne and Arlie attend country school near Luverne and graduated from Luverne High School. After graduating, he worked for area farmers.
Arlie married Ruth Gonnerman on September 4, 1949, in Luverne. The couple lived in Luverne. Arlie worked for M.J. McKee Roofing until he began farming with his father & brother. Arlie then went to work for the Luverne Coop Creamery. In 1961, he started at MID Pack which later became Iowa Beef. Arlie retired from Iowa Beef in July of 1993. He also worked part time for Busse Plumbing & Heating for a few years.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder, a Greeter, offering counting and Head Usher. Arlyn also helped with Little Lambs. He enjoyed farming, gardening, golf, playing cards, fishing, and family get togethers.
Arlie is survived by his wife, Ruth McClure, Luverne; three children, Jeff McClure, Brandon, SD; Arla (Buz) Cousins, Marshall; and Sandra (Greg) Johnson, Luverne; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Miner, Erin (Casey) Helbling and Tanner (Cassie) McClure; Jessica (Terry) Vandrovec, Monica Cousins, and Amanda (Brent) Pederson; and Heath (Heather) Wallenberg & Jeremy (Tara) Wallenberg; twenty four great grandchildren, Nathan, Micah, Addison, Dylan, Alexas, Shayla, Ryley, Emmalee, Jacob, Justin, Carson, Maxwell, Emmerson, Blake, Miles, Sidney, Mya, Kailey, Taylor, Ty, Mateja, Sveja, Ali & Gage; two brothers, Douglas (Darlene) McClure, Luverne; and Steven (Cheryl) McClure, Mitchell, SD; and a sister, La Vonne (Thomas) Williems, Garretson, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Barb McClure; grandson, Christopher McClure; granddaughter, Angela Joy Cousins; great granddaughter, Breley Vandrovec; and four brothers, John I., Milford, Gary & Roger McClure.
