ARLYS MARGARET WIENER, age 70, of Reading, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She was born August 27, 1942, in Sibley, IA, to Ray and Margaret (Harms) Boom. She graduated from Sibley High School in 1960.
Arlys married Don Wiener on March 21, 1964, at the American Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA. After their marriage, the couple farmed southwest of Fulda. In 2001, they semi-retired from farming and moved to Reading. Arlys also worked as a Teachers Aid at the Fulda Elementary School, was a former Sunday School Teacher, she did food demonstrations at County Market & HyVee, worked at Southwest Hearing Aid Center and for Reading Bus Line.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins & Vikings, reading, doing crossword puzzles and traveling to the casino.
Arlys was a loving wife, mother & grandmother. She is survived by her husband of forty nine years, Don Wiener, Reading; two sons, Scott Wiener, Lismore; and Jeff (Tami) Wiener, Fulda; daughter, Jolleen (Chad) Neuenburg, Lismore; seven grandchildren, Madison, Morgan & Logan Neuenburg; and Brianne, Lindsey, Kenley & Alexis Wiener; brother, Ted (Donna) Boom, Lexington, NE; brother-in-law, Dale; and a sister-in-law, Marge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russell Boom; and a sister, Vilys Onken.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Funeral will be 2 pm Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. Richard Ricker. Burial will be in the Summit Lake Cemetery in Reading.
