ARMELLA ELIZABETH (MORMANN) FAGERNESS, age 88, of Worthington, died Monday, July 30, 2012 at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. She was born October 21, 1923 in Olney Township near Rushmore, MN; to parents Bernard and Molly (Schutz) Mormann. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Adrian and attended country school at District #69 for two years and then attended school at St. Adrian Catholic School.
Armella was united in marriage to Lee M. Fagerness on June 6, 1944 at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. They lived in Norfolk, VA; where her husband was stationed at the naval base during World War II. The couple remained at the base until October of 1945 when they moved to Rushmore, where they raised their family and lived for the next 48 years.
Armella was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and also a charter member of Rushmore Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Green and Growing Garden Club of Rushmore, Dewald Project Group, past president of WCCW at St. Adrian and was a 71 year member of Catholic Daughters. Armella donated eight gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, golfing and dancing. Armella especially enjoyed playing bridge. She played at the Elk's Lodge every Wednesday.  She also enjoyed traveling. For their 35th wedding anniversary their children gave them a trip to Rome and also a trip to Hawaii on their 45th wedding anniversary. After her husband passed away Armella made many trips across the United States and traveled to Europe and Canada.
She is survived by 12 children, Mary (Dr. Jim) Krook, Barnes, WI; Craig (Joanne) Fagerness, Highland Ranch, CO;  Loren Fagerness, Minneapolis, MN; Gerald (Colleen) Fagerness, Lewiston, MN;  Therese (Darrell) Henriksen, Savage, MN;  Rosemary Fagerness, Everett, WA;  Janet (Chuck) Karl, Albert Lea, MN;  Tom (Trudy) Fagerness, Sioux Falls, SD; Joan Fagerness (Teri) Kurtistown, HI;  Richard (Linda) Fagerness, Princeton, MN;  Sharon (Luke) Seikkula, San Diego, CA;  Celeste Guillen, Winona, MN; 28 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren,  and one brother, Norbert Mormann, Worthington.
Armella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee and three brothers.
