ARNOLD NORDMEYER, age 93, of Luverne, died Wednesday, October 05, 2011, at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. He was born June 23, 1918, in Minneapolis, to Ernest and Dora (Christensen) Nordmeyer. He grew up with his family in Lake Benton.
Arnold married Freda Davis on June 26, 1940. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne where Arnold worked at Lampert Lumber. He also worked as a carpenter building over forty five homes in Rock County including the Blue Mound Interpretive center.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne. Arnold was an avid fisherman. He fished many lakes in Minnesota and South Dakota. He also enjoyed playing cards.
Arnold is survived by his daughter Bonnie Lyke, Puyallup, WA; two grandsons, Eric (Season) Lyke, Hermosa Beach, CA; and Christopher (Jennifer) Lyke, Portland, OR; and five great grandchildren, Emma, Elly, Brooklyn, Cameron & Anna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Freda in 2005; three brothers, Norman, Larry & Milton Nordmeyer; and two sisters, Jean Finke & Faye Balzer.
A memorial service will be 10:30 am Monday at the United Methodist Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Donn Rakow. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial of cremains will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Luverne. Memorials are preferred to United Methodist Church, Luverne.
