ARNOLD "SHORTY" JOSEPH
SIEBENAHLER, age 69, of Luverne, died Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth, MN. He was born April 12, 1942, on the family farm west of Hardwick, to John and Lorraine (Frisch) Siebenahler. He attended school in Luverne.
Shorty married Colleen Honermann, on July 31, 1965, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. After their marriage, the couple lived on an acreage south of Luverne. In 1972, they moved west of Luverne. The couple divorced in 1989. In June of 2002, Shorty moved to Hardwick. Shorty worked at the Blattner Body Shop in Luverne for Ernie Blattner; and ran a caterpillar for Clem Hatting. He worked at Siebenahler Construction from 1966 to 1983. From 1983 to 1993 Shorty was Superintendent of employees for All State Paving, of Minneapolis, in North Dakota. He retired in 1993 due to health reasons. He became a resident of the Mary Jane Brown Home, in Luverne, in November of 2003. In 2008, he became a resident of Golden Living Center in Slayton and later moved to Mission Nursing Home in September of 2011.
He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church; the Luverne Eagles; the Rock County 4-H; and the Hardwick Morning Coffee Club. He enjoyed restoring old Ford vehicles, wildlife, deer hunting, gardening, making apple pies, picking asparagus, watching the Minnesota Vikings, auto auctions on TV and good looking gals.
Shorty is survived by his three children, Sheila (Mike) Siebenahler-Holland, Garvin; Doug (Evonn) Siebenahler, Lake Crystal; and John (Awanda) Siebenahler, Luverne; eight grandchildren, Bo & Carly Holland; Damia & Dougray Siebenahler; and Quinton, Courtney, Riley & Savannah Siebenahler; two brothers, Bob Siebenahler, Jasper; and Leon (Phyllis) Siebenahler, Luverne; sister, Theresa Winger, Killeen, TX; sister-in-law, Gladys Siebenahler, Luverne; his ex-wife, Colleen Thomas, Jordan; and special friend, Dotty Hitzemann, Worthington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Luverne "L.J." Siebenahler and Lloyd "Shorty" Siebenahler; two sisters-in-law, Gerda & Helen Siebenahler; and a brother-in-law, Harold Winger.
