ARVILLA J. VELDKAMP, age 76, of Luverne, died Sunday, September 1, 2019, at her home. She was born March 5, 1943, in Rock Rapids, IA, to Al and Dena (Rusch) Veldkamp.

In 1961, Arvilla moved from her home in Pipestone MN to the State Hospital in Redfield, SD. In 1981, she moved to Sioux Vocational Group Homes in Sioux Falls, SD. Following there she lived at REM in Canby, MN. In 2003, she moved to the Community Living Alternatives group home in Luverne where she lived until her death. Arvilla worked at RCO until her retirement. Due to her declining health, Arvilla was placed in hospice care two days prior to her passing.

She loved to offer up a 'giggle-laugh' whenever asked, tell secrets, playing 51 pickup, laughing, talking about family and going outside for walks. Another favorite was watching cooking shows along with 'Diet Coke pop', popcorn & DQ chocolate sundaes being her favorite cuisine.

Arvilla is survived by one brother, Elmer (Greta) Veldkamp Brandon, SD; two brothers-in-law, Dick Kracht, Hills; and Harley Rossow; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rossow Sherman; twenty eight nieces and nephews; roommates; past workmates & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters Jeanette Beyer, Alice Kracht, Florence Birkhofer, and Dorothy Rossow; two brothers, Ben Veldkamp & Jim Veldkamp; and two nephews.

The family would like to thank the work team of CLA/CCSI, RCO, Rock Co Family Services, and Sanford Hospice for their dedication, care and love they showed towards Arvilla over the years. It was greatly and deeply appreciated.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Funeral will be 11 am Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone.
