Obituary

AVIS S. FLETCHER, age 80, of rural Worthington, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the North Central Heart Institute, in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born October 4, 1927 at her home in Little Rock Township to Harvey and Cora (Ostrem) Kruse. She attended country school at District 12 in rural Little Rock Township, MN. Avis married Kenneth C. Fletcher on February 21, 1948, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, in rural Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Dewald Township. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastfriesland Church of Christ, in Rushmore, where she had taught Sunday School; the Ladies Aid; the Rushmore Garden Club; and the Rushmore Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, gardening & having coffee at CD?s Caf?, in Rushmore. Avis enjoyed collecting dolls, putting together scrapbooks, and she especially loved her cats. She still wrote letters and loved to remember others on various occasions with a card. She enjoyed visiting and going to many social gatherings with friends and family. Avis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, LaDean ?Butch? & Lori Fletcher, rural Worthington; three brothers, Dwaine (Wilma) Kruse, rural Adrian; Delmer Kruse, rural Adrian; and Eldon ?Babe? (Lorna) Kruse, rural Rushmore; two sisters, Dolores (Carl) Kopplow, rural Adrian; and Marlene Christians, Ellsworth; aunt, Tillie VanAnken, George, IA; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth, on March 29, 1997; two nephews, Jason Kopplow & Gaylord Christians; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Fletcher & Henry Christians.
