BEATRICE ALBERTA GOEMBEL, age 94, of Luverne, died peacefully Saturday, July 18, 2015, surrounded by family at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born October 25, 1920, in Magnolia, to Albert and Gesine (Rust) Brooks. She grew up in Magnolia and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1938.
Bea married Gordon Goembel. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Kenneth until 1966. Bea and her children moved to Luverne. Bea worked as a Home Health Aid for three years before she worked at the Luverne Hospital. She retired on January 5, 1987.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne. Bea enjoyed reading, embroidery work, playing cards & games, gardening, cooking & baking, puzzles, gameshows and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and loved Johnny Cash. Her family was the most important part of her life. She enjoyed many years of companionship with Paul Beyer and together they traveled throughout the United States.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Carolyn (Fred) Wilkens, Watertown, SD; Bev (Ron) Schouwenburg, Hills; Gerry and Catherine; David Goembel (Barb), Mankato; and Cindy (Mike) Lemmer, Reno, NV; eight grandchildren, Angie (John) Reppe, Nikki (Tony) Fitzgerald, Jesse (Meghan) Wilkens, Justin Wilkens, Mark (Kelli) Schouwenburg, Steve Schouwenburg, Donny Lemmer and Shannon Lemmer; eight great grandchildren, Tyler Robel, Carlie Reppe; Megan, Katelyn & Alli Schouwenburg; Owen Wilkens; Eva Fitzgerald and Emma Wilkens; and two sisters, Esther Norberg, Arlington, SD; and Edna Brown, Arlington, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; special friend, Paul Beyer; brother, Robert Brooks; and her sister, Mildred Klosterbuer.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tueaday. Funeral will be 11 am Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Judy Miller-Qualley. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
