Obituary

BERNICE M. BECKMAN, age 90, of Worthington, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She was born January 9, 1919 in Seward Township in Nobles County to parents, John and Elsie (Bents) Enninga. She grew up and attended country school in the Pfingston community in Seward Township. After completing school she was employed by various families in the area providing housekeeping. Bernice married Henry Beckman on November 28, 1937 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in rural Fulda. After their marriage they farmed near Rushmore for nine years. In 1946 they moved to rural Fulda and in 1975 the couple retired and moved to Worthington. During their marriage, Bernice worked for various retail stores including Leutholds. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, the Senior Saints and the Worthington Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, casinos and was an avid flower gardener. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Larry) Kramer, Shakopee; son-in-law, Burton (Diane) Levine, Worthington, two grandchildren, Kim Levine, Winthrop, IA; and Chad Kramer, Hillsboro, OR; two sisters, Irene Koehn, Wessington Springs, SD; and Beverly Kallsen, Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry in 1994, daughter, Janice Levine in 1996, grandson, Wade Kramer, two sisters Leona Ahlberg and Aleatha Steinbach and a family friend, Tami Robinson.
