BERTHA REKA KRUEGER, age 87, of Worthington, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at South Shore Care Center in Worthington. She was born December 2, 1919 in Round Lake Township, Jackson County, MN to parents Ubbie and Reka (Van DerWerf) Heyen. She attended rural school and graduated from Adrian High School in 1938. Bertha was united in marriage to Martin Krueger on October 13, 1940 in rural Rushmore, MN. After their marriage they were engaged in farming in Nobles County. They retired from farming in 1966 and moved to Wilmont. She was a nurse?s aide and worked at Fauskee?s Nursing Home. She also worked at the Adrian Nursing Home and did home health care. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. She did volunteer work at Pioneer Village for nine years. She also had been involved as a 4-H leader while living on the farm. Bertha enjoyed gardening and flowers. She became a resident of South Shore Care Center in 2005. Bertha is survived by her children, Elaine (Dean) Schentzel, Alpha, MN; and Joyce (George) Svoboda, Jackson, MN; five grandchildren; Kevin, Kurt, Kenneth, Kristin, Schentzel and Tom Svoboda, five great grandchildren; Logan, Caleb, Hannah, Zoey, and McKenna Schentzel and two brothers, Ellsworth (Avis) Heyen, Slayton, MN and Rudolph Heyen, Rushmore, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1983, four sisters and two brothers. Blessed Be Her Memory.
