BETTE JANE BENTS, age 82 of rural Rushmore, died Sunday, January 6, 2008, at her home. She was born March 18, 1925, in Sibley, IA, to Jess and Nora (Michelson) Dagel. Bette graduated from Sibley High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant at the Lumber Yard and Coop in Sibley, IA. Bette married John A. Bents on September 5, 1950, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, south of Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple moved to the family farm southeast of Rushmore. They farmed until their retirement in 1990. She was a homemaker; and a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Worthington; and the church prayer group. She enjoyed cooking and accounting. Bette is survived by her three children, Steven Bents, Sherburn; Janice (John) Pfeiffer, Rushmore; and Johnny Bents, Iona; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon) Lingl, Ben & Andrew Bents, Zachary (Rachel) Scharlepp, Zebulin Scharlepp, Cassandra, Pfeiffer, Ciara, Santanna, Kaleb & Coltan Bents; two great grandchildren, Riley & Jadyne Lingl; and a sister, Vivian Post, Orange City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, on November 15, 2003; six brothers, Glen, Rex, Russel, Victor, Richard & Dale Dagel; and two sisters, Alvina Hankin & Fern Graves.
