BETTY JOHNSON, age 85, of Fulda, formerly of Worthington, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She was born July 29, 1926 in Dundee, MN; to parents Albert and Mary (Disteldorf) Mathias. She grew up in the Dundee area and graduated from Fulda High School.
Betty was united in marriage to Richard Cole on May 16, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1957. She was later married to Herschel Johnson in 1961 and they were later divorced.
Betty lived in Rochester, MN; and worked for St. Mary's Hospital and then moved to Indiana and then to Dallas, TX in 1955. She moved to Worthington in 1983; and to Fulda in 2008.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington and was active in the ladies aid. She is currently a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Fulda. She enjoyed bowling, sports, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Christmas time.
Betty is survived by a brother, Greg Mathias, Fulda, MN; also surviving are nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Cole, three brothers and one son.
A time of fellowship will be Monday from 5 to 7 PM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Fulda with a rosary service at 5:15 and parish prayers at 7. A Memorial Mass will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, in Fulda, officiated by Fr. Jeffrey Dobbs. Burial of cremains will be at the St. Mary Cemetery in Dundee.
