BILLY GENE HINRICHS , age 83, of Worthington, died Sunday, March 20, at the Sibley Specialty Care Nursing Home in Sibley IA. He was born December 14, 1938, near Ellsworth, to Henry and Mary (Van Briesen) Hinrichs. Billy grew up in Rushmore and graduated from Worthington High School. After high school; Billy began his long, and passionate, career driving truck.
Along with his love for trucks, Billy also had an interest for airplanes and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Him and his grandson, Isaiah spent many hours driving through dealerships to admire whichever vehicles were on the lot. Billy and his special friend, Betty went on yearly vacations to places including Hawaii and even traveled to Florida eleven times. He rarely ever missed out on the Spencer Fair; and Billy loved a movie and iced cream before bed.
Billy is survived by his special friend, Betty Chatwell, Sibley, IA; son, Troy (Melissa) Hinrichs, Owatonna, MN; two daughters, Tammy Gertsema, Monticello, MN; and Bridget Henning, Adrian; brother Gerald (Lien) Hinrichs, Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Jason; grandson, Nicholas Henning; sister, Mary Ellen Hinrichs; two sons-in-law, Steven Gertsema, and Timothy Henning; and two infant brothers, Ronald Hinrichs, and Donald Hinrichs.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. A private family service will take place at a later date.
