BONNIE LOU LONGFELLOW was born January 18, 1933 in Heron Lake, MN. She was the daughter of Wilfred and Etta (Smith) Phinney. Bonnie grew up in Heron Lake, her senior year in high school she was the Homecoming Queen. She graduated from Heron Lake High School in 1951 and then went on to attend college at the University of Mankato. Bonnie was united in marriage to Robert Thomas and later to John Longfellow. Through her life she lived in Lake Crystal, MN; Rapid City, SD; Boulder and Denver, CO; before moving back to Heron Lake, MN in 1970. Bonnie worked in various health care facilities as a nursing assistant until retiring in 1995. Since then she spent several summers working at various National Parks in Yellowstone, Wyoming; Shenandoah, Virginia; Death Valley, California; Acadia, Maine; and Denali, Alaska. Bonnie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Heron Lake. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, a good book, crosswords puzzles, visiting with friends at the Senior Center, going to movies with family and friends and especially spending time with her family. Bonnie died on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at the Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN. She is survived by her children, Theresa (Dan) Jones, Windom, MN; Greg (Jane) Thomas, Burnsville, MN; Suzanne Prine, Lakefield, MN; JoAnn Longfellow, Esterville, IA; and nine grandchildren, Katie and Kevin Jones, Justin, Laura and Rachel Thomas; Brad and Marie Prine, Emily and Stephanie Block, brother Wilfred Phinney, Heron Lake, MN and a sister Joyce Murphy of Lakewood, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Meriam Leopold and her son Bradley Thomas. Blessed Be Her Memory.
