CARLOS ACEVEDO, age 57, of Chandler, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 22, 1955 in Guatemala City to parents Carlos and Susan (Gonzales) Acevedo. He graduated from Juana De Arco High School in Guatemala City, Guatemala and then he attended college at San Carlos University. After his schooling he worked for the Guatemala Government as a human resource manager. He also was a volunteer for the Red Cross and the Guatemala fire department.
The entire family moved to America in 1989 and made their home in Riverside, CA for seven years. Carlos was employed as a certified nursing assistant. In 1997 the family moved to Chandler, MN. While living in Minnesota, Carlos worked for the Good Samaritan care center in Pipestone, Crossroads Care Center in Worthington and the Golden Living Center in Slayton. Carlos retired in 2011 because of health reasons.
Carlos was a member of the Chandler fire department. He enjoyed reading, keeping up with the news, local and national and dancing with the love of his life, Blanca.
Carlos is survived by his wife, Blanca Acevedo, Chandler, MN; three children, Vanessa VanDam, Chandler, MN; Cynthia Acevedo, Chandler, MN; Jonathan Acevedo, Chandler, MN; three grandchildren, Leilah VanDam, Trevor VanDam and Hazel Acevedo; and one brother, Victor Hugo, Guatemala City, Guatemala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ana Maria Acevedo.
