Obituary

CAROL J. STEEN, age 62, of Round Lake, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Sunset Cottage in Worthington. She was born on January 22, 1945 in Huron, SD to parents Gordon and Hazel (Myhra) Trom. She graduated from Windom High School. After her schooling she moved to Mankato and worked for a law firm. Carol was united in marriage to Richard Steen on September 19, 1964 in Davenport, ND. They made their home in Worthington until 1981 when they moved to an acreage near Round Lake. Carol worked for the First State Bank, Norwest and Wells Fargo for over thirty years and held many positions but was most remembered for her customer service. After retiring from Wells Fargo she worked for Nobles County Family Services. Her last job was with CCSI, opening a new group home in Worthington. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed conversations with family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Carol was known for having a big heart and was always willing to help others. She was also a Nascar racing fan. Carol is survived by her husband, Richard Steen, Round Lake; children, Jason (Shawn) Steen, Shakopee; Jessica (Todd) Hawke, Freeman, SD; six grandchildren, Derek Steen, Lyndi Hawke, Alex Hawke, Chelsey Steen, Cody Gronewold and Caitlyn Gronewold; mother-in-law, Beatrice Steen, Heron Lake; sister, Barbara Geurin, Fargo; brother, Wallace (Marie) Trom, Tempe, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marlys, brother Robert and a great niece Brandi.
