CATHERINE BERTINA METZ, age  82, formerly of Worthington, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, in Yankton, SD at the Avera Sr. James Care Center. She was born August 5, 1936, in Worthington, the youngest child of Anton and Tillie (Hill) Thill.

Catherine married Raymond Metz on January 4th, 1955, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. The couple lived in Worthington all of their married lives of fifty one years. Ray preceded her in death on March 20, 2006.

She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church. Catherine was a housewife and homemaker who took great pride in her nine children and caring for family and friends within the community. Visitors were always warmly welcomed into her home.

Catherine is survived by her  children, Paul Metz, Adrian; Mark (Lori) Metz, Montpelier, ND; Loren (Barbara) Metz, Worthington; Lavern (Lori) Metz, Yankton, SD; Alan (Kay) Metz, Sioux City, IA; Dean (Ruth Adair) Metz, Clinton, IA; Carol (Allen) Vukov,  Dunlap, IL; Beth Baustian, Worthington; and Gary (Belynda) Metz, Marshall; seventeen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; siblings, Anna White, Thomas Thill, Mary Callison, Aggie Hanrahan and Betty Gieser; daughter-in-law, Cindy Alberts-Metz; and granddaughter, Kayla Hoff.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, with Parish Prayers at 4 pm, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. James Callahan and Deacon Vern Behrends. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery.
