CHANDAVONG PHOMMARACKSA, age 58, of Magnolia, died Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Sanford Hospital in Luverne. He was born August 1, 1952, in Laos, to Sichanh and Somsanith Phommavonxay. Chandavong graduated from school in France. He obtained the rank of First Lieutenant in the Laos Army. Chandavong married Malika Songkham in June of 1979, in Thailand. The couple moved to Massachusetts in 1982 where he worked as a carpenter. In 1984, they moved to Sacramento, CA where Chandavong worked for the Sacramento Bee Newspaper. In 1991, they moved to Luverne. Chandavong worked at IBP in Luverne; and later worked for Golden Plump in Luverne. He loved to entertain people. He enjoyed carpentry work, fishing, music, food & sports. Chandavong in survived by his wife, Malika Phommaracksa, Magnolia; eight children, Bounyadeth Phommaracksa, Rochester; Vilaiphone Phommaracksa, Magnolia; David Phommaracksa, Magnolia; Kreplick Phommaracksa, Magnolia; Soukkhy Phommaracksa, Magnolia; Rajanee Phommaracksa, Magnolia; Erick Phommaracksa, Magnolia; and Victor Phommaracksa, Magnolia; two grandchildren, Alenya Sayavong & Andy Phongphaychit; six brothers; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and a brother. Visitation will be from 3-9 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne.
