IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlene Jane
(Browen) Kuehne
May 15, 1944 – November 6, 2025
Charlene Jane Kuehne, age 81, of Worthington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield.
Charlene was born on May 15, 1944, in Farmer, South Dakota, to Isaac and Jennie (Meinerts) Browen. In 1951, the family moved to Swanville, MN, where Charlene graduated from high school.
On December 15, 1962, Charlene married the love of her life, James Kuehne, at the Congregational Church in Swanville. Together they built a beautiful life, living in several communities over the years — including Hutchinson, Gillette (Wyoming), Adrian, Round Lake, Sioux Valley and finally Worthington, where they were living at the Ecumen Meadows.
Charlene worked at various jobs; Campbell's Soup, Sather's, Sioux Valley Steakhouse, and County Market before joining Intervet, where she dedicated over twenty years of service.
In her free time, Charlene loved to dance, play cards, bowl, and spend quiet moments doing embroidery. Her greatest joy, though, was her family — especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always brought a smile to her face.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband, James of Worthington; two children, Dan (Vicky) Kuehne of Reading and Deb (Jay) Manitz of Mantorville; five grandchildren, Devin (Sheyenne) Kuehne, Brooke (Jared) Spilde, Isaac (Katie) Manitz, Jake (Matt Cowan) Manitz, and Abby (Logan) Vlasaty; nine great-grandchildren — Kashton, Krew, Kannon, Leah, McCoy, Carter, Elliot, Quinn, and Wells — and one more blessing on the way. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Sonja Browen of Holdingford, MN and Audrey Browen of Gillette, WY.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers — Ralph, Ivan, Elery, Lance, Clifford, and Dale Browen — and five sisters — Dorothy Dirks, Mavis Bell, Iona Gerlach, Marcella Klinkenberg, and Leotha Browen.
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Monday, Nov. 10 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worthington.
