CHARLES ?CHUCK? ALBERT VAN BELLE, age 92, of Luverne, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. He was born October 21, 1916, in Kewanee, IL, to Prosper and Valentine (Semoens) Van Belle. Chuck?s parents died when he was a young boy and he was raised by his relatives. In 1942, Chuck entered the United States Army and served his country during WWII. He served in the Normandy Invasion & The Battle of The Bulge. He returned from the service in December of 1945. Chuck married Junella Deitermann on January 24, 1946, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple farmed west of Luverne. They retired in 1979. In 1998, they moved to The Oaks in Luverne. Chuck became a resident of the Mary Jane Brown Home in 2004; and the Minnesota Veterans Home in 2005. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne; and a RSVP Volunteer. He was a former member of the Beaver Creek Township Board and the REA Electric Advisory Board. He enjoyed farming, fishing, traveling, wintering in Texas and dancing to ?polka? music. Chuck is survived by his two children, Albert (Debbra) Van Belle, rural Luverne; and Elaine (Lynn) Boergerhoff, Bloomington; six grandchildren, Jason (Teresa) Van Belle, Todd (Chelsea) Van Belle, Nick (Allyson) Van Belle, Scott (Kristin) Parker, Jeff Parker & Tricia (James) Wood; four great grandchildren, Craig & Melissa Parker, Brookelynn Brust & Katelynn Van Belle; and two sisters, Marie DeBates, Bend, Oregon; and Doris (Elmer) Hudders, Atkinson, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Junella, on October 30, 2005. A tree will be planted in memory of Charles Van Belle, by Sanford Hospice in Luverne.
