CHARLOTTE M. SCHMIT, age 90 of Worthington, died, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Sunset Cottage in Worthington. She was born November 2, 1922 in Lismore, MN; to parents Louis and Catherine (Fath) Fritz. Charlotte graduated from the 8th grade at St. Kilian, and received her GED certificate in 1970.
Charlotte married Henry Schmit on October 5, 1943, in Lismore. After their marriage, the couple took over his family farm near Wilmont, MN. In 1975, after years of farming, they retired and purchased a home in Worthington where they did home daycare. Throughout their lives together, Henry & Charlotte opened their home to care for ill family members. In 1988, they moved to Sunshine Apartments in Worthington. On June 13, 2013, Charlotte moved to Sunset Hospice Cottage.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington and belonged to the WCCW and also to St. Mary's sewing group for missions. Charlotte enjoyed spending time with family and her Sunshine friends. She also enjoyed cards, Bingo, RFD television, word puzzles, bird watching and flower gardening.
Charlotte is survived by her five children and their spouses, Lois & Dan Einck, Worthington; Mary Ann & Clyde Hoffman, Worthington; Carol & Gene Hieronimus, Rushmore; Charles & Theresa Schmit, Elk River; and Karen & John Leise, Yutan, NE; eleven grandchildren, Monte & Denise Einck, Brad & Marion Einck, Nathan Einck, Joel Hoffman, Dave & Angie Hoffman, Jason & Jessica Hieronimus, Kelly & Shawn Kluever, Nicholas Schmit, Joseph Schmit, Brice & Emily Bultmann & Emily Leise; and eleven great-grandchildren, Allison, Makenna, Maxten, Iris, Charlotte and Vivian Einck, Jenna Hoffman, Mia & Charlie Hieronimus and Megan & Logan Kluever. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry on January 17, 2009 and granddaughter Kristin Bultmann in 1978.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 PM at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church.
The service will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington with Father Jim Callahan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
