CLARENCE EDWARD SIEVE, age 77, of St. Kilian, died Thursday, April 23, 2020, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. He was born August 16, 1942, in rural Wilmont, to George and Julia (Schweitzer) Sieve. He attended St. Kilian Catholic Grade School and graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic High School, in Wilmont, in 1960. Clarence entered the service on November 16, 1960. He served his country in the United States Army while being stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on October 31, 1966. He worked at Phoell Manufacturing, in Minneapolis, before returning to his dream of becoming a farmer.
Clarence married LaVonne Einck on January 8, 1967, at St. Kilian Catholic Church. The couple farmed north of Wilmont before moving to the farm west of St. Kilian. They moved into Wilmont in 2018.
He was a lifetime member of St. Kilian Catholic Church, St. Kilian Holy Name Society, a fifty-year member of Catholic United, and served on the Wilmont Township Board. Clarence loved to socialize around the coffee table and attend farm auctions. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to casinos, watching the MN Twins, farming, working in his machine shed, and driving through the country.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Vonnie Sieve, St. Kilian; four children, David Sieve, St. Kilian; Roger (Jill Hartmann) Sieve, St. Michael; Judy (Bruce) Heitkamp, Adrian; and Brenda (John) Freimuth, Lismore; six grandchildren, Ashley Freimuth, Lexus Freimuth, Alex Freimuth, Hunter Heitkamp, Halle Heitkamp and Hiltyn Heitkamp; and two sisters, Georgene (Bud) Sanchez, Raymond, WA; and Rose Marie (Joe) McGrath, Northfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Norman Sieve; and a sister, Marilyn Hebig.
Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday at St. Kilian Catholic Church, in St. Kilian; and from 9 to 9:45 am Monday also at the Church. Burial will be 10 am Monday at St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti.
A Memorial Mass will be Sunday at 4 pm at St. Kilian Catholic Church, in St. Kilian, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti. A food & fellowship will follow at the Wilmont VFW.
