CLEO FAYE WICKS, age 73, of Lakefield, died Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born August 31, 1952, in Deadwood, SD, to Wilbur and Dorothy (Brewer) Maynard. She graduated from Deadwood High School in Deadwood, SD; and later from Minnesota West Community College in Granite Falls.

Cleo married Joel Koster in 1972. To this union two children were born, Amanda & Clinton. The couple later divorced.

Cleo married Neil Wicks on October 21, 1995, in Rapid City, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Lakefield. Cleo worked for the City of Lakefield for many years. She then worked for the Plum Creek Library System in Worthington. Cleo retired in October of 2023. She was a caretaker who had a deep love for her children and grandchildren that showed through her kindness. She enjoyed camping, antiquing, attending her grandchildren's activities and loved animals.

Cleo is survived by her husband, Neil Wicks, Lakefield; son, Clinton (Rachel) Koster, Lakefield; step daughter, Amanda Wicks, Worthington; four grandchildren, Katelyn Schmidt, Keagan Koster, Makayla Koster and Mackena Tweedt; two brothers, Bob (Arley) Maynard, Sundance, WY; and Wil (Barbara) Maynard, Moorcroft, WY; and a sister, Darlene Shoun, Rapid City, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Amanda Schmidt; and a brother-in-law, Jim Shoun.

A celebration of life will be 11 am Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Scott Petersen. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
