DALE FORREST HOFFMAN, age 85, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Worthington, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Southridge Healthcare in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born August 12, 1929, in Slayton, to Louie and Antoinette (Lebens) Hoffman. He served his country in the United States Marines from 1951 to 1954.
Dale married Charlotte Jolene Klaassen on December 31, 1965, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Wilmont before moving to Worthington in 1966. In 2007, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Dale was a truck driver. He began driving for his father at L.G. Hoffman Trucking in Wilmont. He later drove for Swiftlines, Smith Trucking and DeGroot Trucking. In 2007, he retired from driving truck and began working at HyVee in Sioux Falls, SD.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion & VFW. Dale loved to drive his truck. He had driven through every state in the continental United States.
Dale is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hoffman, Sioux Falls, SD; nine children, Dalain Coliston, Columbia, SC; Brenda (Gary) Fodness, Kenneth; Mark Hoffman, Sioux Falls, SD; Lewis Hoffman, California; Brandadee Fosa, Las Vegas, NV; Carla Hoffman, Houston, TX; Anthony Hoffman, Sioux Falls, SD; Lance Hoffman, Winona; and Kirstin (Joel) Lange, Sioux Falls, SD; son-in-law, Jim Mikesh, Portland, OR; twenty nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Wilma) Hoffman, Sioux Falls, SD; and Clyde (Mary Ann) Hoffman, Worthington; two sisters, Roxie Harberts, California; and Sally (Joe) Pinter, Hidden Valley Lake, CA;
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ritchie Hoffman, in 1986; daughter, Susan, in 2014; great granddaughter, Kendal Marie; and a brother, Eldon (Beverly) Hoffman.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Graveside service will be 10:30 am Monday at the Worthington Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Worthington American Legion & VFW.
