DARLENE H. McCLURE, age 91, of Luverne, died Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. Darlene was born July 26, 1934, in Jeffers, MN, to Elmer and Hilda (Petersen) Woolsey She graduated from Luverne High School in 1952.
Darlene married Douglas McClure on November 8, 1957. They lived in Luverne for a short time until they moved to Long Beach, CA, and later moved back to Luverne. Darlene worked at the Luverne Community Hospital for many years as a Ward Clerk. She retired from the hospital and was a caretaker along with Doug, taking care of their daughter for many years in their home after her car accident at the age of 27.
Darlene in her younger years loved to go to dances with her parents and sisters. She later enjoyed going boating and fishing with her husband and kids. Darlene enjoyed shopping with her sister in Sioux Falls. She always loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, in Luverne.
Darlene is survived by three children, Diane (Gary) Blattner, Plymouth; Debi (Cliff) Scholten, Magnolia; and Douglas A. (Carol) McClure, Luverne; eleven grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Blattner, Nick (Janelle) Blattner, Danielle (John) Lam, Trista Scholten, Seth Scholten, Bailey (Chris) Sopkowiak, Stephanie (Tony) Oakley, Meghan Lenz, April (Mike) McFarland, Dustin Johnson and Derek Johnson; fifteen great-grandchildren, Will, McKenna, Maddie, Audrey, Isabelle, Brodi, Carson, Carter, Piper, Harley, Addison, Brooks, Sloane, Lou and Sam; sister, Donna Scholten, Luverne; two brothers, Dale (Angie) Woolsey, Bluffton, SC; and David (Melissa) Woolsey, Blanco, TX; and a great-grandson coming in February.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug, in 2017; daughter, Darla, in 2012; grandson, Joshua, in 1977; sister, Dorothy; and two brothers-in-law, Wendell and George.
Visitation will be Monday, December 1, 2025 from 5-7pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Bethany Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Rev. Andrew Palmquist. Burial will be following the service at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
