Darrell Dale Mueller, age 85, of Worthington, was born on April 6, 1939, in Elkton, SD. He passed away surrounded by his family on January 4, 2025 at his home. Darrell was the son of William and Velma (Johnson) Mueller. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Chicopee Falls, MA, where he was a mechanic. After he was honorably discharged on August 26, 1960, he moved to Rushmore. Darrell worked as a mechanic for Firestone for 39 years before retiring. After retirement, dad enjoyed time fishing as well as picking up small jobs to keep him busy and help his children with many projects.

Darrell married Marlene Schutz on January 4, 1964 at St. Adrian Catholic church in Adrian. They celebrated their 61st anniversary. Darrell was always a man who worked with his hands.   When he was not working, he was a fixer upper. Dad liked to take family fishing trips in northern Minnesota. He fished all four seasons and was an avid ice fisherman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Marlene Mueller, Worthington; five children, Deb Minske, Huron, SD; Pam (Keith) Slocum, St. Charles MN; Patty (Harry) Ronellenfitch, Sioux Falls, SD; Sue Mueller, Winona, MN; and Jodi (Trent) Imberi, Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren, Tyson, Miranda, Mason, Madison (Byrd), Brandon (Alexandria), Kari and Reno; nine great-grandchildren, Kyleana, Brody, Cayden, Lakia, Jaelynn, Mariah, Roxie, Dante and Dawson; two brothers, Alvin (Karen) and Don (Mary); a sister, Delores; a sister-in-law, Janette Hanson, two brothers-in-law, Ed (Karen) Schutz and Norbert Schutz; and many nieces, nephews, friends and grand-pups.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Velma; two brothers, William Jr. and Lyle; a sister, Judy Hustad; father and mother-in-law, Peter and Bernadine Schutz; and three sisters-in-law, Petrina Herman, Cathy LeBon and Helen Schutz.

Time of Fellowship will be from 12:00p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025 followed by Memorial Service beginning at 2:00p.m. at Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington, MN   Father Tim Biren officiating.
