DARRELL W. STRASSBURG, age 83, of Luverne, died Saturday, October 28, 2006, at the Minnesota Veterans Home, in Luverne. He was born December 4, 1922, in Hardwick, to Irving and Mary (Kleese) Strassburg. Darrell graduated from Edgerton High School in 1940 receiving All-American Honors in football & basketball. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army for five years. Darrell married Dolores Walgrave on June 20, 1946, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Hardwick. They later lived in Canby before moving back to Luverne in 1953. Darrell had various occupations including carpentry and appliance repair. He also was a United States Government Weather Recorder for over thirty years. He moved to the Minnesota Veterans Home in February of 2005. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne; the Knights of Columbus; the Luverne VFW; the Hardwick American Legion; and a retired member of the Hardwick Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing & playing cards. Darrell is survived by his wife, Dolores Strassburg, Luverne; six children, Jeff & Sue Strassburg, Elk Point, SD; Dennis & Diane Strassburg, Magnolia; Linda & Doug Henrichs, Sioux Falls, SD; Wendy & Wally Cooper, Reading; Twyla Strassburg, Sioux Falls, SD; and Pat & Barb Strassburg, Adrian; twenty grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine (Edsel) Clark, Luverne; and Lois Thorson, Luverne. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike, in 1970; grandson, Jim Henrichs; a brother, Clifford Strassburg; and a sister, Naomi Strassburg.
