DARWIN L. ROGNESS, age 84, of Luverne, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills. He was born April 30, 1926, in Kenneth, to Henry and Louise (Saathof) Rogness. He attended school in Luverne. Darwin served his country during WWII in the United States Army Air Corp. He served in the European Theater in the Army of Occupation. Darwin married Joyce Pederson on August 10, 1947, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne. For a short time, they lived in Minneapolis where Darwin worked at Warren Cadillac. In 1960, they returned to Luverne where Darwin worked at Schoon Motors until 1965. He later owned & operated Darwins Service Center, in Luverne, until the early 1980?s. He then operated The House of Oak where Darwin restored furniture. Joyce died on December 27, 1974. Darwin married Beatrice Eiter on November 1, 1975, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne; the Luverne American Legion, where he served as Past Commander; the Luverne VFW; and The Last Man Club. Darwin had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed photography and he collected cameras and developed his own pictures. Darwin loved airplanes and flew his own planes. He also enjoyed collecting coins & guns. He loved animals especially his dog, Daisy. Darwin is survived by his wife, Bea ?Beasly? Rogness, Luverne; four children, David (Louise) Rogness, Luverne; Steve (Robin) Rogness, Stow, OH; Rickey Rogness, Mesa, AZ; and Linda (Steve) DeSplinter, Jasper; three step children, Teresa (Tim) Perisic, Savage; Craig (Mary Beth) Eiter, Prior Lake; and Sheila Helle, Sioux Falls, SD; twenty one grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Sheehan, St. Paul; and Dorothy Revard, St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joyce; and a brother, Arthur Rogness.
