Obituary

David Ashton Fenske, age 71, of Luverne, Minnesota passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with leukemia.  He was born May 1, 1942 in Port Angeles, Washington to Donald and Norma (Nelson) Fenske and they settled on a farm in Blue Earth, Minnesota in his youth.

David graduated in 1962 from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On August 5, 1962 David married the love of his life, Judith (Kuyper) Fenske in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Together they raised three daughters and in their 51 years of marriage lived in various towns including Blue Earth, MN, Rapid City, SD, and finally Luverne, MN in August of 2013.  David spent his career working in the farm equipment and machinery industry in various capacities from staff training, to sales, to management.  He also spent time working in real estate in his later years. David was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time in the woods of the Black Hills riding ATVs, camping, and hunting. David was known to many as a skilled repairman, sharing his mastery of carpentry and machinery repair. He also used these skills in many artistic endeavors, designing and building intricate metal sculptures.

David is survived by his wife, Judy Fenske of Luverne; three daughters, Christina (Kevin) Kaiser of Shoreview, MN; Casey (Lee) Westphal of Hills, MN; and Corissa Erhardt of New Ulm, MN; six grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, and Benjamin Kaiser, Joanna and McKenna Westphal, and Jessica Armstrong; and two nieces, Ann and Katy Peterson of Calamus, IA.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Donald Fenske, his sister Virginia (Fenske) Peterson, and niece Kari Peterson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Ron Nichols.  A time of fellowship will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dingmann Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Luverne, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
