DELORES "DEE" MARGARET BUSS, age 72, of Luverne, died Monday, September 29, 2014, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born August 27, 1942, in Adrian, to Raphael and Genevieve (Einck) Honermann. Dee graduated from St. Adrian Catholic High School in 1960. She then graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing, in Mitchell, SD, where she received her LPN Degree. She worked at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, from 1961 to 1963.
Dee married her high school sweetheart, Daryel A. Buss on February 23, 1963, at St. Adrian Catholic Church. The couple lived in Minneapolis for one year where Dee worked as an LPN at Northwestern Hospital. In the summer of 1963, the couple moved to Luverne. Dee continued her nursing career at the Luverne Community Hospital which later became the Sanford Luverne Medical Center, before she retired in July of 2004. In 1983, Dee was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. With God's blessings she was cured. In 2008, as a twenty five year cancer survivor, Dee was honored to be the Relay for Life Honorary Chairwoman.
She was an active member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne; the WCCW; the Catholic Daughters; the Adoration Chapel; the Liturgy Committee; Sunday School Teacher; Eucharistic Ministry; the Bookstore; St. Catherine Pilgrimage; and was the first recipient of the Dorothy Day Service Award for church volunteering. Dee also belonged to the McDonald's Coffee Gals; The Red Hats: and the Extension Club; the Luverne VFW Ladies Auxiliary; and was Foster Grandparent at Luverne Public Schools. She enjoyed many vacations to the Bahamas, East & West Caribbean, Florida, Marco Island, Hawaii, San Francisco, Branson, Seattle, New York and Germany with the Kellen Relatives. She also loved canning, shopping, baking, crafts, grandkids activities, decorating for the holidays, rummage sales, cheering on the Minneaota Twins, playing pinnacle and the annual Honermann camping trips.
Dee is survived by her husband, Daryel Buss, Luverne; five children, Terry (Jo) Buss, Luverne; Troy (Lisa) Buss, Golden Shores, AZ; Tim (Christy) Buss, St. Michael; Tom (Cassandra) Buss, Bellevue, WA; and Traci (Jason) Schmid, Harrisburg, SD; seven grandchildren, Jacklyn, Melisa, Brittney, Tyler, Mady, Tayler & Morgan; a great granddaughter, Kayla; six siblings, Donna (John) Wolf, Mankato; Alice (Virgil) Cook, Adrian; Gary (Sharan) Honermann, Adrian; Joe (Lynn) Honermann, Litchfield; Randy (Karen) Honermann, St. Kilian; and Julie (Roy) Stevens, Pipestone; and twenty three nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant grandchild, baby Schmid; Godchild, Kyle Stevens; father-in-law, Anthony Buss; and mother-in-law, Grace (Wiard) Schroeder.
