DELORES 'DEE' ELAINE WEILAND, age 96, of Worthington, died Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Worthington Sanford Medical Center in Worthington. She was born October 2, 1929, in Redfield, SD, to William and Otillie (Komis) Strege. She graduated from Redfield High School.

Dee married George Weiland on June 15, 1950, in Redfield, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Redfield where Dee worked as a legal secretary before moving to Lead, SD. In 1951, they moved to Pierre, SD where Dee worked as a legal secretary at the Capital. In 1962, the couple moved to Fremont, NE where Dee worked as a secretary at the college. They later moved to Millard, NE where she worked at the grade school. They moved to Worthington in February of 1966.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington; the Worthington American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; and the Worthington Turkey Trotter's. She enjoyed square dancing and her grandchildren.

Dee is survived by her two children, Lenai Engler, Worthington; and Michael (Gynelle) Weiland, Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Brenda (Robert) Vortherms, Amber (Phillip) Joens, Ruth Weiland (and friends, Ryan & Teri), William (Ashley) Weiland and Taylor Weiland; six great-grandchildren, Adrianna (Alec) Ascheman, Tarryn, Brandt & Savannah Joens; Maya and Brynlee Weiland; a great-great-grandson, Walker; and three step grandchildren, Adam, Kyle & Deark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George on March 9, 2020; son, George 'Pat" Weiland; a son-in-law, Steven Engler; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Weiland; brother, Mert Strege; four sisters, Maybelle Heffley, Hon Petersen, Lois Englet and Mildred Harms; and a great-grandson, Tucker.

Memorial service will be 11 am Saturday, Feb. 21 at American Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Jeremy Hallquist. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worthington.
