DENNIS LEE ECHTERNACH, age 72, of Round Lake, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 13, 2024. He was born August 3, 1951, in Worthington, to Darrel and Katherine (Kruger) Ross. He grew up in Reading where he attended school up to the 8th grade. Dennis then went to Worthington High School, graduating in the class of 1970. He later attended Canby Vo Tech taking auto mechanic classes. Soon, he took a job at Sather Cookie Co. in Round Lake, wrenching on their trucks. Dennis then got into concrete construction and worked for Harvester, Slone Construction, Groninga Construction, McCuen Construction as well as helping out at Sowles Construction and DDP Construction for over forty plus years before retiring.
He loved spending time with his family and friends telling stories and reminiscing while drinking a Budweiser. Dennis also had a love for horses, western movies, old country music, dancing, singing, the Minnesota Twins & Vikings and camping.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary Echternach, Round Lake; four children, Craig (Tanya) Echternach, Worthington; Stacey (Dean) Thom, Fairmont; Brian Echternach, Reading; and Scott (Kim) Echternach, Fulda; two step children, Matthew (Amber) Grimmius, Lake Park, IA; and Jared Davis, Round Lake; four sisters, Judy (Donald) Groninga, Worthington; Joyce McNab, Naples, FL; Jackie (Steve) Davis, St. Cloud; and Kathy (Dave) Schweigert, Wilmont; a brother-in-law, Gary Deuschle, Reading; fifteen grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Blake Grimmius; a sister, Barb Deuschle; and a brother-in-law, Bill Howell.
