DIANNE MARIE CARLSON, age 80, of Luverne, died Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born May 11, 1945, in Luverne, to Lester and Anne (DeBates) Heckt. She graduated from Luverne High School, and from St. Joseph's nursing school in Mankato with a Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Dianne married John Zewiske on February 19, 1966, in Jasper. The couple lived in St. Paul and Wausau, WI. They later divorced.
Dianne married Steve Carlson on March 27, 1982, in Hardwick. The couple lived in Rock Rapids, IA before moving to Luverne; for the past few years Dianne lived in Pipestone. She worked as a nurse in Wausau, WI and Sioux Falls, SD and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home in Luverne.
Dianne was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and Bingo, reading, working on crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, classic country music, dancing, and spending time with family. She grew up on a farm near Hardwick and had a love for flowers, sunshine, and fresh air. She was intelligent and lively, and kept everyone around her on their toes. She will be dearly missed.
Dianne is survived by her six children, Chris (Jenny) Zewiske, Minneapolis; Joseph (Nancy) Zewiske, Mukwonago, WI; Ann (Ola) Bildtsen, Roseville; Wayne Zewiske, Luverne; Robert (Ashley) Carlson, Hardwick; and Mary Ella Carlson, Seattle, WA; eleven grandchildren, Ian, Zachary (Jessica), Katie, Jacob, Ericka (Michael), Elsa, Isak, Jenna (Daniel), Gracie (fiancé, Cade), Garrett and Guinevere; sister-in-law Judith Carlson, Luverne; and brother-in-law, Doug Wessels, Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steve Carlson on May 10, 2022; two brothers, Donald and David Heckt; and two sisters, Mary Maroon and Virginia Wessels.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 pm Monday, Nov. 24 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne, officiated by Fr. Joshua Miller. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
