Obituary

DICK A. JACOBS, age 89, of rural Rushmore, died Saturday, December 19, 2009, at the Sanford Luverne Community Hospital. He was born May 13, 1920, in Ransom Township, rural Nobles County, to George and Alice (Alberts) Jacobs. He attended country school in Ransom Township. Dick married Tillie Reiter on March 19, 1946, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church Parsonage south of Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Rushmore area. Dick farmed most of his life before retiring in the early 1990?s. He was a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church where he had served as Deacon, Elder, Trustee & sang in the Male Quartet for many years. He enjoyed fishing, raising pure bred Hereford Cattle and sports, especially watching the Minnesota Twins, Vikings & Gophers. Dick is survived by his wife, Tillie Jacobs, rural Rushmore; daughter, Janet (Carl) Smid, Worthington; son, Randy (Joyce) Jacobs, Rushmore; two granddaughters, Laura & Sarah Jacobs; step grandson, Jeremey Smid; and a step great granddaughter, Haley Smid. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dena Jacobs; and a brother, Harry Jacobs.
