DICK JACOB WERKMAN, age 78, of Round Lake, MN; died on Tuesday Nov. 10, 2015 at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born on February 3, 1937 in Dewald Twp; Nobles County, MN; to parents Abraham and Dena (Aning) Werkman. Dick grew up on the family farm in Dewald Twp and attended Worthington High School. On November 16, 1956 he entered the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii and received his honorable discharge on October 30, 1959. Dick returned to Nobles County and started work at Campbell Soup Company where he met his future wife Alice.
Dick was united in marriage to Alice Dollander on April 22, 1961. They made their home in Worthington all their married lives and he worked for Sather's Trucking until his retirement in 2000. Alice preceded him in death on March 26, 1989 and in 1991 Dick moved to Round Lake, MN. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington and the Round Lake American Legion Post 461.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Werkman, Worthington; Lori (Daniel) Manitz, Gillette, WY; and Paula Sauer, San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Justin Manitz and Koy Sauer, two great grandchildren, Hunter and Lexie Sauer; one brother, Jacob (Linda) Werkman, Rushmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alice Werkman, three grandchildren, Dustin Manitz, Alesia Sauer and Kyle Sauer.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at the American Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Bailey Fossum. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Worthington.
