Dolores (Dee) Mary Ella, age 93, of Worthington, died May 18, 2025, at Sunset Cottage Hospice of Worthington.
Dolores was born April 18, 1932 in Iona, MN, to WIlliam and Mary (Testroet) Halbur. She grew up on a farm in Iona township and graduated from St. Columba High School in Iona in 1949. She worked as a bookkeeper for S&L in Slayton.
In 1955 she and Rodney Ella were married in Iona and made their home in Worthington.
Dolores was a "stay-at-home" mom and part-time treasurer and bookkeeper for the Nobles County DAC. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's CCW and Mission Sewing Group, American Legion Auxiliary, Worthington Hospital Auxiliary, Mobile Meals Coordinator, Christian Women, and RSVP.
She loved gardening, sewing, playing cards, volunteering and bowling (especially the state and national tournaments).
Her survivors include five children: Kerry Ella, Jackson, MN; Kevin Ella, Mountain Lake, MN; Sharon (Sam) Tomlinson, Oklahoma City, OK; Roxanne Rickey, Watonga, OK; Adrienne (Terry) Thorson, Glenville, MN; six grandchildren, Jason (Krystle) Ella, Spencer (Nishelle) Tomlinson, Sydney (Kristen) Tomlinson, Tyler (Allison) Rickey, Tara Thorson, Emily Thorson, two stepgrandchildren, Sondra (Pete) Tomlinson, Josh (Angela) Thorson, and seven great-grandchildren; siblings Virgil, Ralph, and Donald Halbur.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rod; sisters, Esther Krause and Joan Diedrich; brothers Paul and Marvin Halbur, and grandson Josh Rickey.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, May 22, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Monsignor Richard Colletti and Deacon Vern Behrends. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery.
