Obituary

DOMINIC ANTHONY TONY SCHEIDT Jr., age 58, of Luverne, died Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 16, 1951, in Luverne, to Dominic & Zelda (Serie) Scheidt. Tony graduated from Luverne High School in 1969, completed basic training in San Antonio, TX for the South Dakota Air National Guard and continued to serve for 6 years while attending Pipestone Vo-Tech for Agricultural Banking. Tony married Pat Schutz on June 19, 1976, at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. After their marriage, the couple farmed northeast of Luverne near Blue Mounds State Park. In 1981, they moved back to the family farm west of Luverne. Tony loved his lifetime of farming and his twenty five years of driving school bus for the Luverne School District. He continued to do both until his death. Tony enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He was a bicycling enthusiast and participated in RAGBRAI. Tony enjoyed playing softball & hockey and coaching youth hockey & baseball. He broke and trained the family horses, played piano, roller bladed, and water skied. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne; and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, for which he bowled. Tony is survived by his wife of 34 years, Pat Scheidt, Luverne; three children & their spouses, and one grandchild, Brad & Heather Scheidt & their son, Mason, Blaine; Tracey & Chris Bringe, Maple Grove; and CPT Tyler & CPT Mary Scheidt, Ft. Rucker, AL; mother, Zelda Scheidt, Luverne; two brothers, Larry (Gina) Scheidt, Rochester; and Tim (Susan) Scheidt, Warsaw, IN; and a sister, Mary Bullerman, Thief River Falls. He was preceded in death by his father, Dominic Scheidt in 2006; sister, Beverly Snider; and a brother-in-law, Allen Bullerman
