DONA J. REITMEIER, age 79, of Bigelow, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. She was born on October 13, 1931 in Rolfe, IA to parents Frank and Irene (Eberle) Jonas. She grew up in Laurens, IA and graduated from Laurens High School.
On October 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to George Reitmeier in Laurens, IA. After their marriage the couple moved to Emmetsburg, IA, Montgomery, IA and in 1954 they moved to Bigelow. During their marriage Dona was a homemaker and spent most of her time raising six children. She did work part-time at the post office in Bigelow and was the city treasurer for the city of Bigelow.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington. Dona was an avid reader and enjoyed stamp collecting, crocheting, gardening, traveling, which included trips to Europe and Alaska. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by six children, Patricia (Michael) Feldkamp, Quinlan, TX; Herman (Nancy) Reitmeier, Brandon, MN; Michael (Connie) Reitmeier, Cape Coral, FL; Craig (Louise) Reitmeier, Baytown, TX; Thomas (Kimberly) Reitmeier, Bigelow, MN; and Don Reitmeier, Houston, TX; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lois VanderSchell, Chinovalley, AZ; Lucille Stump, Fort Dodge, IA; and three sisters-in-law..
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George on July 27, 1993; son, Mark Reitmeier and one brother, Gene Jonas.
