Donald Lee De Boer, age 80, of Leota, Minnesota, born to Peter and Jennie De Boer on September 18, 1935, died peacefully on December 26, 2015, at the Hospice of The Valley, in Mesa, AZ, under the loving care of his family and friends at Mesa Area Hospice facility.
Don will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Louisa Marie (Kooiker) De Boer, whom he married on July 19, 1957, and by all those who knew and loved him.
He was devoted to his faithful Savior, his family and his community. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, car collecting, and wintering in AZ with his wife Louisa.
Don is survived by his wife, Louisa De Boer, Leota; four children, Vicki (Doug) De Haan of Byron Center, Michigan; Bruce De Boer of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Janet (Glen) Holsather of Sioux Falls, SD; and Julie (Mark) Kreun of Hull, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, Luke, Nathan, Joseph, Samuel, T., Katie and Joshua De Haan; Nathan and Brandon Holsather; and Alexis, Abbie, and Audrey Kreun; brother, Nick (Cynthia) De Boer of Leota; sisters-in-law, Clara Rozeboom, Gert Kooiker and Cynthia Lundberg; brothers-in-law, Willis (Bev) Kooiker, and John (Sherry) Kooiker, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothersin-law, Herman Kooiker, Jake Kooiker, and Harvard Rozeboom; and his son-in-law Terry Kastein (Vicki De Haan).
Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Friday at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota. Funeral will be 11:00 am Saturday at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.
The Leota Burial Association & Dingmann Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
