DONALD WILLIAM CARNAHAN, age 84 of Worthington, died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at the Sanford Health Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born in rural Primghar, IA, on January 31, 1923, to parents, Ernest and Elsie (Muckler) Carnahan. Donald grew up in O?Brien County, IA, and graduated from Gaza High School in 1943. Donald then served in the U.S. Navy, in the Pacific Theater, during World War II. On January 2, 1944, he was united in marriage to Alice Richter in Sutherland, Iowa. During their marriage, Donald and Alice started farming in Paullina, IA, and then moved to Worthington in 1954. Donald continued to farm and also worked for Murphy Motor Freight Lines for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1985. Donald was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington. He was also a member of the Teamsters #120 of St. Paul. In his spare time, Donald planted and tended evergreen trees. He also enjoyed watching the World of Outlaw sprint car races and spending time with his family. Donald is survived by his wife, Alice Carnahan, Worthington; seven children, Lance (Dee) Carnahan, Burnsville, MN; Donald Carnahan, Elysian, MN; Lon (Linda) Carnahan, Shakopee, MN; Laurita (Daniel) Roos, Worthington, MN; Val (Rod) McMartin, Payson, AZ; Jeff (Elizabeth) Carnahan, Sioux Falls, SD; Lanette (Randy Kruger) Carnahan, Janesville, MN; eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Francis (Marge) Carnahan, Sutherland, IA; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Carnahan; Fremont, NE; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters. Blessed Be His Memory.
