DONALD ERICK DIRKS, age 92, of Worthington, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born February 11, 1931, in Worthington, to Erick and Dorothy (Baseman) Dirks. He attended school in Worthington. Don married Avonne Doeden on July 21, 1950 in Worthington. They made their home in Worthington. Don worked as a Job Superintendent at Hudson Brothers in Worthington. He was a member of the Worthington Archery Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening & rock hunting. Don is survived by his three children, Debra A. (Alan) Vogt, Magnolia; Bruce A. (Janet) Dirks, Owatonna; and Barbara Deuel, Hendricks; eight grandchildren, Christa Buechler, Laura (Andrew) Ellsworth, Jesson (Casey) Vogt, Erica Dirks, Brant Dirks, Dwight Deuel, Schuyler (Bernadette) Deuel and Gordon (Melissa) Deuel; fourteen great-grandchildren, Marissa (Skyler) Bertram, Julia and Erick Buechler, Eli and Lydia Ellsworth, Elsa and Monte Vogt, Henry and Hazel Deuel, Aurora, Benjamin and Tirzah Deuel, Ramona and Otis Dirks; and two sisters, Dee Haas, St. Charles; and Sandra Anderson, Lenexa, KS He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Avonne on March 24, 2013.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, January 19 at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Gordon Deuel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home of Friday. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
