DONALD R. HECTOR, age 76, of Worthington, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 13, 2009, at his home. He was born February 6, 1933 in Adrian, to parents, Thomas and Ellen (Veen) Hector. He attended Worthington Public School. After his schooling, Donald was enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict from December 16, 1949 to February 16, 1953. Donald married Yvonne Preuss on October 11, 1953 in Worthington. After their marriage the couple moved to Edensburg, PA then moved to Columbus, OH before returning to the Worthington area. Donald was a trucker, construction worker and worked as a maintenance mechanic for thirty years. He enjoyed fishing, having coffee with friends, his dog, spending time with his family, watching his sons race and rebuilding automobiles. Donald was a member of the American Lutheran Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a member of the National Guard for many years. Being blessed for sharing his life are his wife of fifty-five years, Yvonne Hector, Worthington; two daughters, Cindy Hector, Worthington; Cheryl (Burdell) Boltjes, Worthington; two sons, Dan (Casey) Hector, Wilmont; Scott Hector, Brewster, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
