DONALD ALVIN KNIPS, age 89, of Worthington, MN died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his residence. He was born on September 18, 1925, in Lismore, MN to Alvin and Lottie (Eshleman) Knips. He attended country school PS 75 in Leota Township and Adrian high school, graduating in 1943.  He then attended the University of Minnesota agricultural program.
On February 12, 1950 Donald married Janice LaVonne Alberts at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmont. Donald and Janice farmed northwest of Lismore and Donald also sold seed for Pioneer.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lismore and served as an elder and trustee. He also served on the Lismore Telephone Company and Nobles County Soil Conservation boards. Donald enjoyed baseball, fishing, hunting for pheasants, square dancing, playing pool and cards.  He also enjoyed traveling especially wintering in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Knips, Worthington;  children, James (Kathy) Knips, Lismore, MN;  Luann (Rick) Parker, Slayton, MN;  Gail (Jim) Rust, Magnolia, MN;  Dean Knips, Lismore, MN; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Dorothy (Bob) Munns, Winnebago, MN;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lottie Knips, sister, Darlene (Melvin) Lutmer and brother, William Knips.
Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Lismore. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church.  The funeral service will be Friday at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Lismore with the Pastor Thomas Voigt officiating. Burial will be in the Adrian Cemetery.
