DONALD HARM ROGERS, age 82, of Brewster, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA. He was born May 15, 1928 in Reading to parents, Jake and Tillie (Heidebrink) Rogers, in Reading. He attended Reading Public School. Don farmed with his father in rural Reading. Donald married Leola Burmeister on May 21, 1950 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Lakefield. After their marriage the couple moved to Rost Township and continued farming. He was also a Funk Seed dealer. The couple later moved to Round Lake and then moved to Brewster in 1958. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. He was also on the Alba Township Board for 18 years and a former member of the Brewster School Board. Don was also a former member of the Worthington National Guards. Don enjoyed playing ball, raising White King pigeons, hunting with Greyhounds, Oliver tractors, farming, visiting with everyone and he was known to talk or sing in his sleep. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play ball. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Leola Rogers, Brewster, seven children, Kevin Rogers, Brewster, MN; Gail Rogers and friend John Ferguson, Heron Lake, MN; Mavis (Larry) Johnson, Staples, MN; Lorna (Randy) Kruger, Brewster, MN; Glenn (Lisa) Rogers, Brewster, MN; Wayne Rogers, Brewster, MN; Lori (Randy) McCabe, Albertville, MN; sixteen grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren, one brother, Melvin (Bonnie) Rogers, Wilmont, MN; and two sisters, Jane Lutner, Worthington, MN; and Marilyn (Bob) Koch, Henderson, NV; and sisters and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.
