DONALD L. TALBERT, age 98, of Luverne, died Sunday, August, 17, 2008, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Luverne. He was born January 24, 1910, in Long Lake, MN, to Fritz and Wilhelmina (Read) Talbert. He attended elementary school at District 94, in Crystal Bay, MN. Donald graduated from Wayzata High School, in Wayzata, MN. He later graduated from St. Cloud State Teachers College where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Physical Education, and Industrial Arts. Donald was united in marriage to Dolly Oaks on September 4, 1970 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Donald taught in public schools in Mable, MN; Princeton, MN; Rush City, MN; and Lincoln Senior High in Sioux Falls, SD. He coached football, basketball, and baseball; he received ?Coach of the Year? award from the Twin Cities Sportsmen Association in 1944. He trained dogs for field trials at Armstrong Kennels, in Anoka, MN and was a consultant at Plastech Research, in Rush City, MN. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne, where he did repairs and remodeling woodwork jobs. He enjoyed doing woodworking projects after he retired. He also was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He enjoyed all sports indoor and outdoor. Donald had a special appreciation for wildlife and all of nature?s beauty. Donald is survived by his wife, Dolly Talbert, Luverne; son and daughter-in-law, Stewart and Jennifer Talbert, Lake City, MN. Donald is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Carroll; four sisters, Viola Danek, Dorothy Talbert, Gaylie Talbert, and Gloria Hinchman. Blessed Be His Memory.
