DONALD "DYKE" VAN DYKE, age 81, of Worthington, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the Adrian Care Center. He was born October 5, 1930, in Adrian, to George and Dena (Barenborg) Van Dyke. He attended country school near Rushmore.
Dyke married Beverly Ponto on July 24, 1964, in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple lived in Worthington all of their married lives. Dyke worked construction. He worked at Scheppman Construction before owning & operating Van Dyke Pipe Pushing. He then began working for T.R. Murphy in Worthington. In 2007, he semi-retired because of health reasons.
He was a member of the Worthington Elks Lodge #2287. Dyke enjoyed playing cards, billiards, fishing and especially his grandchildren. He loved to make people laugh and wasn't afraid to give a friend a hard time.
Dyke is survived by his wife, Beverly, Worthington; six children, Susan (George) Kreger, Louisville, CO; Marcine Brand, Des Moines, IA; Roxanne (Gary) Tieman, Irving, TX; Debra Van Dyke, Pipestone; Terry Van Dyke, Worthington; and Jeff Van Dyke, Worthington; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and his step mother, Hilda Van Dyke, Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Molly Van Dyke, in 2010; and a sister, Marion Robinson.

A memorial service will at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington at 10:30 am Saturday, officiated by Rev. Irwin Van Leeuwen, with a time of fellowship one hour prior to the service. Burial of cremains will be at the Round Lake Cemetery.
