DORIS MAE SCHMUCK, age 89, of Luverne, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at the Bethany Meadows Home in Brandon, SD. She was born August 28, 1928, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Henry and Mary (Killaney) Collings. She attended school in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 19, she moved to Luverne.

Doris married Vernon Kruger in 1941. Vernon died in 1965. Doris married Lester H. Schmuck on October 19, 1966, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne. Lester died on March 10, 2007. Doris worked at the Lang's Café, Etta's Café and the Rock Café all in Luverne. Doris also worked at Campbell's Soup in Worthington, and Safeway in Adrian.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. Doris was a volunteer at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her five children and their spouses, Gerald & Linda Schmuck, Gulfport, MS; Charlene Franco, Glendale, AZ; Wanda & Gary Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO; Jack Kruger, Valley Springs, SD; and Janelle & Doug Bolt, Brandon, SD; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Marlys Collings, Sioux Falls, SD; and Delores Strassburg, Luverne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Vernon Kruger and Lester Schmuck; on March 10, 2007; two brothers, John and Wesley Collings; and a sister, Virginia Obermueler.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor David Jahn. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
