Doris Mae (Jensen) Korthank, age 80, was born February 28th, 1927 in Luverne, MN, first born to Martin and Eunice Jensen, longtime Luverne residents. After following her parents to various Army bases during WWII, she graduated from Luverne High School in 1945. She attended Sioux Valley Nursing School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated in 1949. Doris worked as a nurse for Dr. Everett Boone, Luverne Public Schools, and Camp Easton for Boys, near Ely, MN, during summer months. Mrs. Korthank courageously battled the effects of brain surgery for eight years preceding her death and died quietly in her sleep, surrounded by loved ones, April, 5, at Lyngblomsten Care Center, St Paul, MN. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne and involved with United Methodist Woman's Club and periodically performed community service, offered through the church, in the West Indies and volunteered at the Hospice in Luverne. Mrs. Korthank is survived by one daughter, Katheryn Korthank, Stillwater, MN, and Martin (Korthank) Kors , St Paul, MN; one sister Barbara Winter, Rochester, five grandsons and one granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
